FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

The main thing that we hope to share with the audience is to encourage that people are always looking out for each other and that no one is ever truly alone.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

All the scenes were fun to draw and animate, but my favorite had to be finishing up scene 4. The classroom was such a long scene and the perspectives where difficult to understand so being able to complete the scene was an absolute blast.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

This is an opportunity that was an amazing experience that I will value as it was one of the first steps I have taken into joining the digital world of art and animation. It has given me a chance to learn new skills and gain experience before I have to leave high school, while also giving me an opportunity to be entirely positive that this is the field I want to go into.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

The most challenging part was getting voice actor and finding time to voice act. I learned from this though that I could start making a casting call for the voice acting sooner and make more attempts to better advertise the casting calls.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

Take time to work on the film, if it is animation you should start your process of animation as soon as you have an idea down. I would also recommend that you ask for help as soon as you know you need it. The people around you and on The Film Prize Junior Team are there to help with the creation of the films.
