Secret of the Vase
LOGLINE
Cassandra Martinez, a college freshman, is just trying to get by and finish her classes. However when a certain energy disturbs her studies, she is confronted by an unfortunate and annoying series of events.
FILMMAKER INTERVIEW
What do you want the audience to take away from the film?
Animation can have darker themes and complex storylines as any other life actions film.
Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?
I had had the most fun drawing out the scenes where Raven was just bugging and annoying Cassandra constantly, getting on her nerves. It helped show that humor aspect of the film.
Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?
Opportunities like these help me build my confidence in my work as well as prove to the animation studio later on that I am capable of creating a story and am able to plan it out and put it into full effect.
What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?
Obstacles that I faced were having much to do at once. Although I did manage my time well, by the end of the day, when I would work on the film I was so tired I would sometimes leave it on the back burner. However when things cleared up, I dedicated more time and effort into the film.
What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?
Manage your time the best that you can. Leave time for drawing/filming and definitely leave time for editing the film.
