Left To Rot is a short entertaining film about a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was “left To rot”. The film follows 2 best friends as they work to get this jeep up and running and back on the trails.
FILMMAKER INTERVIEW
What do you want the audience to take away from the film?
I want the audience to take away the fact that you don’t need nice things to have fun or go to some cool places.
Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?
I had tons of fun filming me and my buddy playing in the snow, we tried to sled on a broken trash can lid, sadly, it didn’t work but I still had a fun time filming.
Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?
I think opportunities like Film Prize Junior are important to students because they get to try something new, it can also open up a new passion they didn’t know they had about making films.
What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?
Me and my film crew (Hayden), had a hard time trying to find time to go and film, we both had work most days and just couldn’t get a day off. We also had to get permission from our parents, which is always a challenge.
I actually learned how to edit from this project. I did not know anything about editing before I started on this project.
What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?
My advice to future participants is to just go out and make a film. It doesn’t, by any means, have to be perfect. Just go out and try it, I didn’t even know how to edit before making this film and I found out that I could.
